The Art of 'Dazzling'
by
In my experience, I have found the little things I do on a consistent basis are usually the most powerful in assisting me to "dazzle", and stand out from the crowd. And, over time the crafts I apply have evolved into being a component of who I AM. Here are approaches I implement , regularly. Make your own list and compare, but the catch is to put them into action! Act with credibility Those inconsistent in their behavior repel people while those who are consistent draw people to them. To be influential/stand out, have integrity! When speaking with people, give them 100% of your attention You can gain a lot from being a great listener. And, make sure you are really listening, and not just waiting for your turn to talk! Be interested in other people and what their point of view is. They will feel your interest. You'll be amazed at the connection and trust that will occur. Make Eye Contact Continuous eye contact can make you stand out from a crowd because it creates a very intense "bond" between the two people. And it gets me a lot of smiles in the process! Stretch your Comfort Zone Look for new things to do; make it a habit. Take a chance on something you have always wanted to try. Don't be afraid of being rejected, of people saying no to you, or of failing. One of my biggest fears was the the possibility of rejection by hearing the word "No". However when I put myself out there, that is not what I experienced! A whole new world opened up for me and frankly I haven't looked back! Utilize Effective Posture Standing well is key to your personal impact. Effective posture helps your voice, your breathing and gives you energy because your body doesn't have to put extra effort into holding itself up. How you stand also affects how you feel about yourself and how others feel about you. Take a moment in the morning to shake out your shoulders. A technique I use when I notice myself slouching is to imagine a ribbon/string coming out of the top of my head. Way up in the clouds is my "higher self" pulling on the other end. As the string is gently pulled, It helps me stand/sit erect with a straight back; and my shoulders are level and relaxed. These simple techniques will help you feel more relaxed and confident, which in turn gives you personal impact Apply Common Sense Common sense is the art of utilizing discernment. it is our inner guide or compass. It is loving and expansive. All five senses come together and make a practical decision without any specialized knowledge, training or intelligence. It keeps your feet on the ground of reality and at the same time increases your success because you are assessing a situation objectively, with no emotional attachment. Michael Dillon describes it as: "A rather uncommon ability to do the right thing without a lot of forethought; it is a close connection to deep intuition." Unveil your Charisma Our charisma is the certain quality of our individual personality which sets us apart from others. It's beyond "rational" emotions. Charisma is our charm and uncanniness. It can't be faked. And we all have it! Being sincere, light in spirit, and dropping seriousness and self-concern makes one be more charismatic! Each of us has our own special qualities and attributes. They are easily recognized, as they contribute to our happiness, and to be fulfilled. Now is the time to flourish (and "bedazzle" the world) by exposing them! ©2010Mary Kay is available for Private Consultations and Speaking engagements.
