Unfortunately we don't live in some sort of bizarre Hollywood film and women don't have a literal sign that says come talk to me! etched onto their foreheads. However there are some things you can watch out for that can give you clues to whether she is single or not. Plenty of eye contact If her eyes are sailing all over the room she is probably (consciously or not) looking for potential mates. This is a sign that she is available. Most women that are already attached don't really bother looking around as they have no intention of meeting a new man. Talkative with men If you see her talking to different guys it could mean that she is open to conversation. You should take the cue and go over and start a conversation yourself. However, bear in mind that she could be talking to a group of her friends. This is usually not that hard to figure out: spend a while watching the group dynamics and you should be able to tell straight away. Has puppy dog eyes when looking at other couples If you see her watching other couples intently she could be thinking about the days she was in such a relationship herself. This is a great time to step in and start a conversation: you are addressing her subconscious need, and that will give you extra points in her eyes. Take a peek at her body language Of course, if you are a veteran of the dating game, you'll already know this: people say a lot with body language. While women are much better than men in picking up on it and interpreting it, you should be able to get enough information to figure out if she is single or not if you have some experience. Some signs to look out for in women who are interested are: playing with their hair, or getting into the personal space of men as they talk to them. Once you have made your move, again it's not very hard to figure out what is on her mind by looking at her body language. People that are not being drawn in by the other person will fiercely maintain their personal space and adopt a defensive posture, most likely leaning backwards and having their arms crossed or some variation of that pattern. On the other hand, people that are interested and drawn in by the other person will lean forward and maintain eye contact as well as relaxing their facial muscles. Good luck!
