Spice up your January
by
Steve Davis The beginning of the year is a bad time for all couples. The dark nights and freezing weather descend on us, keeping us inside and breeding irritability and discontent. The dawning of another year also makes us philosophical, meaning we reconsider the whole focus of our lives. But don't let this get you down and certainly don't let it disrupt a relationship. All dating UK couples can get through the worst month of the year together. Here are a few ideas for keeping the romance alive this January... Gourmet cookingInvite your date over for a bit of top-notch home cooking. This is so much more romantic than going to a restaurant, the amount of effort required showing how much you care. Also, you can tweak the circumstances to suit the atmosphere, scattering your tablecloth with petals, arranging table settings and putting on a bit of light jazz. Just make sure to plan the menu around what they like to eat. Sitting-room picnicsWho says you can't have a picnic in the winter? Arrange a floor-based feast in your living room, complete with basket, rug and carefully prepared treats. This could be during the day or at night, ideally by the side of a huge roaring fire, sprinkled with candles and softened with a bottle of red wine. Movie marathonsAnother great way to date without leaving the house is to arrange a movie marathon at your place, staying up late into the night to make it through your suggested list. This works best with a trilogy or particular franchise - the Lord of the Rings films, for example, or Star Wars. Borrow a projector and make some popcorn for full effect. Embracing the seasonIf you're willing to venture out into the dark and cold, why not go all out and embrace all things wintry? Outdoor ice-skating rinks are scattered around the UK and make great date locations. Somerset House in London is even running a club night on the ice at the moment. Alternatively, there are plenty of winter markets and other seasonal activities to choose from. Cosy cups of coffeeIt can be really nice to go out on a date in January just to escape from the cold in a cosy cafe. This is also great for dates with those you don't know very well yet, people you meet on online dating free websites, for example. For extra impact turn up in an overly large coat, hiding an elegant outfit underneath, and dazzle when the time comes. January doesn't have to be the worst month of the year. With perseverance and imagination it can even be romantic. Steve Davis©2012 Show All Articles By Steve Davis12 Simple Rules
